Sitting right at the top of Macallan's Sherry Oak range is the Macallan 40 Year Old Sherry Oak 2017 Release. Drawn from three sherry-seasoned casks (one European oak butt, one American oak butt and one European oak hogshead) where the whisky slumbered for four decades, this will undoubtedly be an extraordinary Speyside single malt. Only 465 bottles were produced.
Nose: Sultanas with gingers and wood spice. A background of sweet cinnamon and citrus emerges.
Palate: Opens with soft cinnamon spices, quickly developing into a mouth coating of date and figs.
Finish: Long, rich with a lingering cinnamon spice.
