Kanosuke Single Malt Japanese Whisky 2021 Second Edition 70cl/57%

Their first single malt was lapped up by whisky fans around the world thanks to its smooth and mellow character, created by carefully distilling whisky in all three of Kanosuke’s unique stills before maturing predominantly in ex-shochu casks. 

Now, the Kanosuke 2021 Second Edition looks to follow on in style. It too was created with liquid from all three stills, but this time it has been matured mostly in ex-bourbon casks. This has resulted in a somewhat sweeter, fruiter expression that brings much more vanilla and oak spice than we got in the First Edition.

On the nose we will be treated to fragrant citrus, vanilla, lemon tea and green apples, before the palate arrives with sweet, sticky honey, cinnamon spice and a slight hints of grapefruit that help to bring your palate back down to earth. The finish is medium length and starts off sweet, before more of that grapefruit leaves a slight, but pleasant, bitterness that holds until your next sip.
